ESRx-1090 ADS-B/MLAT Receiver

The ESRx-1090 is a robust, scalable, and easy to install ADS-B solution that can be used to passively track aircraft and other ADS-B enabled platforms such as drones and high-altitude balloons. A single ESRx-1090 sensor can decode ADS-B broadcasts from up to 300 km away, exposing useful aircraft information such as callsign, ICAO code, platform type, position, velocity, and much more. The ESRx-1090 uses a single cable for both power and data transfer, making installation trivial. Integration with third-party systems is supported through a powerful API.

A reliable ADS-B receiver is an essential augmentation to any radar-based airspace monitoring network. The ESRx-1090 integrates natively with all Peralex Passive Radar solutions, allowing radar track information to be supplemented with ADS-B transponder metadata through low-level data fusion. Multiple ESRx-1090 devices can also be combined to form wide sensor networks - Peralex’s powerful onboard tracking software ensures that data from these distributed sensors is fused intelligently to provide reliable aircraft detection and accurate tracking.

ADS-B broadcasts are not infallible, and can be faked, or “spoofed”, by bad actors. Combining three or more ESRx-1090 receivers unlocks the power of multilateration, which allows aircraft to be tracked according to the time of arrival of their broadcasts instead of the content of the broadcasts themselves. The ESRx-1090 can detect spoofing by looking for differences between the measured and reported position and altitude of an aircraft. This capability is essential when monitoring critical infrastructure or operating in conflict zones. Multilateration also allows aircraft with older Mode S transponders that do not report position to be tracked.
